Venezuela

Cocos Islands are considered as tourist destinations themselves -- we, the locals, are actually very lucky to have that exclusive right to call them a home. But of course, even though our everyday living in Cocos Islands can be likened to holidays, it is a good idea for us to explore other countries as well. To be able to appreciate the diversity of the planet, we need to leave our home of coconut palm trees once in a while. The next time you find yourself free, why not visit, let us say, a country from the other side of the globe like Venezuela?

You see, Venezuela is an opposite of Cocos Islands in many ways. A former Spanish colony, Venezuela's culture is definitely different from ours; its cities can thus, be very exciting to explore. Touring historic buildings, architecture, landscape and monuments in Venezuelan cities can be a thrilling experience for us because they have been shaped by indigenous, Spanish and African influences.

As people who grew up in a place where there are no rivers and lakes and there are only palm trees, Venezuela for us is a wonder-place. Well, the country boasts for being one of the most biodiverse in the world. Our little hometown lacks any kind of water attraction; in Venezuela, they have some of the most popular world-wide. Venezuela is home to the Angel Falls, the world's highest waterfall. Orinoco, the second longest river in South America, is in the country as well.

And there is more about Venezuela that we from Cocos Islands would particularly find amusing. Find out all those by reading the rest of our pages.
